I'm feeling a little emotional right now. And it's all because of a video game. I just finished Walking Dead: The Game, Episodes 1 and 2, and there's a stew of emotions in my chest. This is an achievement that few video games have managed. I can think of only a handful of games that made me cry or get angry or feel something. There's the moment in Ico when you lose the girl, or the endings of some Final Fantasy games, or that moment in XCOM when your favorite character died, or the cliffhanger at the end of Half-Life 2, but there are so few games that manage to evoke an emotional response from its players. Walking Dead isn't the most beautiful game to look at. It doesn't have revolutionary gameplay. But boy, can this game make you feel something.

Getting Mac OS X to run on a hackintosh seems simple enough. If you know how to read and can follow directions, you'll be able to do it. There are plenty of pitfalls along the way though, so it's important not to get frustrated or to lose heart. There's so much to do. The best advice I got from the tonymacx86 forum (which specializes in hackintoshing) was this: "If you want to eat an elephant, take one bite at a time." Wise words.
Everything I learned about hackintoshing, I learned here: tonymacx86. They're genius. Full credit to these guys. I'll be discussing the steps I took to make my hackintosh in very broad strokes, just so that interested people can get some idea if this is for them or not. The process is described in more detail if you follow my links.

I haven't written a photography post in a while. That's because I was feeling a little glum about photography. Like many photography geeks, I think that new gear will make me a better photographer. So I was feeling blue about not getting a new camera. It just wasn't in the stars. Because of that, I took fewer photos, left the camera at home more often, and when I did shoot, I just wasn't as into it. Then I went to the zoo.

|Almost finished with the build...|
I disappeared for a week because my new hackintosh computer – a PC that runs OS X – took up all my time. I was obsessed! But now it's built, and I am thrilled with the performance. This was my first mackintosh build and only my second PC build. (I've worked with Macs all my life.) The build proved to be challenging. I found it fun though. I like working with my hands. The software side was frustrating, but in the end it all worked out.

|Look! It's a fake PS Vita. Just for giggles.|
It's that time of the year, and while every tech site is writing about their must-have gadgets of the Season, I'm going for those cute, and cheap gifts that will win over the heart of any nerd. Here's where to go shopping.

It's alive! Thanks to a little Greenhills magic, my broken iPad is once again in perfect working order, tweeting, shooting angry birds, and running in temples. Total cost was P3,000 for a replacement battery. The act of opening the old iPad introduced a couple of new scratches, but all in all, I have to say that I was very happy with the whole experience. Plus I feel like I'm giving Apple's philosophy of non-user-replaceable batteries and forced obsolescence a big "Up yours!"

My toddler is a Disney Channel/Disney Junior junkie. So I loaded up my iPad with apps based on the TV shows that he watches. I really should stop calling it my iPad. The kid has taken it over, haha! This post is for you, moms and dads.

At first I thought, yeah yeah yeah, another virtual credit card. I already have one of those. Don't need another credit card. Please don't bother me! Good thing then that my wife, Topaz Horizon, was asked to try out the GCASH American Express Virtual Card for her blog. What is it exactly? It's a whole lot of things, but the one thing that stood out for me was that you can buy things in the US from stores that require a US billing address.
