Third World Nerd is experiencing technical difficulties

I feel so third world right now. Internet has been down for a week. ISP claims it's affecting Metro Manila and much of Luzon. Yes, we called our ISP and that's what they said, adding that we should email them for further inquiries. Right. And how are we supposed to do that when we don't have Internet? Eh?

Judging from the absence of Wi-Fi networks visible from my apartment, everyone where I live seems to be affected. I'm typing this at work, hoping DSL will be back up when I get home. But I'm not holding my breath.

Third World Nerd's Wish List: Part Two

I thought I'd just wrap up my little nerdy wish list. Some of this is old, but by old I mean announced a while back. They're still the hottest gadgets on the block right now.

StarCraft 2 system requirements out now

Hullo third world nerds, today is a good day to be a StarCraft 2 fan. The launch date is a week away and Blizzard has just released its official system requirements, which you'll see after the jump. And I'm talking about the Philippine launch date. Place your orders at Datablitz, folks.

Sony Philippines is giving away laptops!

Okay everyone, it's promo time. Sony Philippines is giving away three VAIO M laptops. In case you're wondering, these are Sony's pretty little netbooks sporting Intel N450 Atom processors, worth P29,000+ each. More info after the jump!

Postcard from Tron

Look what arrived in the mail today: a postcard for the video game Astro Gunners from Encom. Okay nerds, did you spot that one? I don't have to tell you that Encom is of course, the evil mega-corporation from the movie Tron, which makes this postcard promotional swag for the movie Tron Legacy. It's my nerd thrill for the day. I know, I'm so shallow. I've been a huge fan of Tron since I was a kid.

Vintage lenses on Micro Four Thirds

It's a little known fact that the Micro Four Thirds cameras, like my E-PL1, can take all sorts of lenses, even old film camera lenses. In fact, I bought my camera not knowing this. A friend recently pointed me to a few links online and I'm now officially obsessed about turning my camera into a Leicympus -- an Olympus Leica hybrid. I'll be happy with any good vintage lens though. Leica lenses can be quite expensive.

Sony NEX-5 Philippine launch

SLRs aren't for everyone, though nowadays you'll find them in the hands of everyone from high school girls to your grandfather. For those of you looking for something smaller but just as flexible and powerful, there are cameras like Sony's NEX-5, a pocket-sized cam that rocks interchangeable lenses. They recently launched this baby, together with the NEX-3, at the Hotel Sofitel a couple of days ago, and Third World Nerd was there.

Third World Nerd new design

Ooh what fun! Been messing around with Blogger's new templates, and I came up with this. The logo though is completely fresh. I made it myself with a free-to-use font that I downloaded. It might look familiar...

UPDATE: The annoying thing about changing your template is that all your widgets get messed up or disappear and you have to put them back manually. The good news is while putting back my widgets, I decided to add a Facebook Share button to this blog. It's easy peasy. If you have a blog, you can add a Facebook Share button by following the directions on this link.
