See how big the Gulf of Mexico oil spill is on Google maps

Check out this link to see Google maps with an overlay of the observed and forecasted spread of the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Spoiler: the oil spill (the green part) is by my reckoning almost half as big as the state of Florida, and it's already made landfall. Gross. I've been ignoring the news for a while now (it's been a month already!), thinking it was just another oil spill. Seeing it on Google maps really brought home just how bad this disaster is.
