Yep, you've seen them on Facebook. A bunch of lucky folks now have iPads here in the Philippines. Thanks to Anonymous who sniffed out a site called Gadget Grocery already selling iPads here in the Philippines. I also received an email from this place called My Gadget Shop. So far, the prices from both Gadget Grocery and My Gadget Shop are much higher than the published price on the Apple Store, but that's to be expected in some ways. It's just the law of supply and demand. Prices after the jump.
Here's a little table I made. A friend in the US told me that the actual price of the iPad includes 9% tax, so I added that below.
Apple Store My Gadget Shop Gadget Grocery
16GB $499 + 9% tax= P24,363 P38,000 P42,000
32GB $599 + 9% tax= P29,244 P43,000 P50,000
64GB $699 + 9% tax= P34,126 P50,000 P61,000
And how much will the iPad cost when local distributors start to sell them? It's anyone's guess, really, but consider this: a $600 Mac Mini costs P33,990 here. Hmmm....
If you want to get in touch with My Gadget Shop, here are his contact details: "Kindly text me at 09178418054 or email me at c_calimon@yahoo.com." Meanwhile, you can go to Gadget Grocery by clicking on the link.

grabe namang patong yan! halos doble! i'll wait na lang for the ipad to be sold OFFICIALLY here. malamang mas mura.
Definitely mas mura. The question is how much more. Or we can always wait for Globe or Smart to pick up the 3G version and sell it/give it away with a plan and a contract...
And that is why, if you are impatient, you should buy yours from Apple.com, Stan. Right, Third World Nerd?
saw some stores selling iPad at Greenhills. 16G is 35K and the 32 is 47K.
Thanks for the heads up urbanmudra. Meanwhile, a friend of mine just bought an iPad in Hong Kong. Ended up paying the equivalent of P44,500 for the 32GB model.
Reports say that in India, the 64GB iPad is going for over two thousand US dollars. Check it out: http://www.ismashphone.com/2010/04/16gb-ipad-selling-for-900-in-india.html
